Operation "Shiny Bayonet" was Delta Company's first major operation and has been called it's "Baptism of Fire" by CBS news's Morley Safer. On 10 October the entire 1/12th Battalion air assaulted into Soui Ca Valley, dubbed "Happy Valley" by the 1ST Cav Troopers.
